“Biotechnology” is a composite term of biology and technology. It is a generic term for technologies that contribute to the improvement of people's lives capitalizing on the capabilities and nature of the organism. It is now used in various fields, such as healthcare and agriculture, through elucidation of the structures of genes and DNA and application of technology such as “genetic recombination.” Biotechnology is the technology that interacts with life.

At Kyowa Hakko Kirin, we are focusing on the creation of innovative biopharmaceuticals based on cutting-edge biotechnology. Utilizing the biomolecules such as proteins with a complicated structure that cannot be chemically synthesized, biopharmaceuticals are capable of achieving high potency with less adverse reactions.
