Lyrics

My Philosophy
written by Kotringo
composed by Shuta Hasunuma

Trying to look the good side of the things
But as the world wobbles
My heart trembles
How do I believe in myself
How do I create my life

Keep on looking for the hidden treasure
The leaf vein and the smell of the earth
Waking up for the birds calling
What do I live for?

Unique forms of constellations
Full of creatures
Thousands of thoughts
I’m just one of the elements
Finding out the things tickle my heart
That’s what I want to cherish
That’s what I want to cradlet
That’s what I want to think of
Always, remember

The shining particles in the air
which might used to be a part of your loved one
Unexpected coincidence
Bring light to someone’s lives
What do you live for?

Your smile, dream and sincerity
That’s what I want to cherish
That’s what I want to cradle
This is my philosophy
My belief, happiness and freedom
Affirm myself, and same as others
That’s what I want to think of
Always remember

Kotringo

Started playing the piano at age five, and began composing music at age seven.
After graduating from Koyo Conservatory of Music in Kobe, Kotringo went on to study abroad at the Jazz Composition and Performance Department at Berklee Collge of Music in Boston.

After receiving her degree, she moved to New York and began her career as a performer. In 2006, she catches attention of Ryuichi Sakamoto and makes her debut in Japan with her single, “Konnichiwa, Mata Ashita (Hello, See You Again Tomorrow).” Ever since, she has released nine albums including a cover album, mini album, and an album as a band.

Furthermore, she is popular with people working within the creative industries, producing soundtracks for films such as Atarashii Kutsu Wo Kawanakuchya (I Should Buy New Shoes) and Kuma no Gakkou (The Bear’s School) and also TV commercial songs.

In recent years, she has joined as a member of the band, KIRINJI.

Her latest album is birdcore! which includes the theme song “Dareka Watashio (Somebody Please Help Me To)” to the TV drama, Ashita Mama ga Inai (Tomorrow, Mom Will Not Be Here).

Kotringo attracts attention from various quarters as a female singer/song writer who creates a poppy world that seems to float in air, with her extraordinary piano performance and her soft singing voice.
