Our effort in therapeutic antibodies

Fully human antibody production technology

Until now, antibodies similar to those of humans are difficult to be created while Kyowa Kirin succeeded. Since human antibody genes are so large that only part of the genes could be transferred to mice, Kyowa Kirin devised a revolutionary technique for transferring extremely large genes to mice called HAC (Human Artificial Chromosome).

This led to the creation of a mouse that can produce a variety of fully human antibodies, which significantly expands the potential of therapeutic antibodies as drugs such as the ability to continuously administer antibodies to patients.
